Our Program

Crowned Scholars has developed an intentional 10-month curriculum that aligns with the local districts’ academic calendar. Within this curriculum, our selected Scholars will be engaged in two areas: 1) Academic enrichment and exposure, specifically as it pertains to STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, Math) and Critical Thinking ; and 2) Healthy Habits, or life coaching, and nurturing of essential skills outside of the normal classroom setting.

Our Scholars will spend their tenure of middle school with the Crowned Scholars Family, while exploring the 3 E’s of our program:

We understand Scholars are transitioning from elementary to middle school, and not all black boys have a smooth transitions. Our 6th grade curriculum’s essential focus is to provide our black boys with a foundational toolkit to prepare them for life. This first year is intended for the Crowned Scholars Family to intentionally get to know each Scholar and their families.

Now that our Scholars have laid their foundation, we are taking it up a notch - Exposure. During this second year, Scholars are diving into the depths of self-awareness, interpersonal interactions, as well as being exposed to their surrounding community to evoke their elevation of success. This second year is created to continue growth with the Crowned Scholars Family with the addition of Crowned Community.

GO OFF! Our Scholars are embarking on their last year with our program. They have acquired foundational knowledge, exposure to their true identities and civic duties, and now it is time to apply the culmination of their experience through a Capstone Year. This final year will allow our Scholars to take ownership of their next steps academically and personally, preparing for their future greatness.

Our Academics

Our Life Coaching

Our academic curriculum is designed to expose our Scholars to all aspects of STEAM within an engaging learning environment that allows them to think creatively . We focus not only on the cognitive capacity of each scholar, but also the type of learning style our scholars identify with. Whether it be auditory, visual, or even tactile, we have specialized learning techniques and practices in place to fit the needs of our young men.

We understand that in order for our scholars to be successful inside of the classroom, it is just as important to focus on “Building Healthy Habits” beyond their academic setting. Crowned Scholars coined the term, “Healthy Habits”, to represent what society calls life skills. Our Healthy Habits curriculum is created for intentional and purposeful dialogue that will equip our scholars to confidently take on the various adversity society will challenge them with.
